Abstract

The number of workforce in Jambi in August 2020 was 1.83 million people, an increase of 78.2 thousand people compared to August 2019. The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) was 67.79 percent or an increase of 2 points.
In the past year, unemployment in absolute terms increased by 22.78 thousand people. The TPT figure increased by 1.07 percentage points to 5.13 percent in August 2020, compared to August 2019. The highest TPT was found in residents with vocational graduate education, namely 12.35 percent.
The working population is 1.74 million people, if seen from the main employment fields, the business fields that have decreased employment are in the manufacturing industry (0.53 percentage points), government administration (0.54), construction (0.39) , education services (0.36), accommodation provision (0.24 percentage points), corporate services (0.16 percentage points) and health services (0.07 percentage points) compared to August 2019.
A total of 1.09 million people (62.74 percent) of the population work in informal activities. Over the past year, informal workers have increased by 5.67 percentage points compared to August 2019. In recent years the percentage of underemployed workers rose by 2.68 percentage points, and part-time workers rose 1.79 percentage points.
There are 252.8 thousand people affected by covid-19 or 9.35 percent. Consisting of unemployment due to covid-19 (18.79 thousand people), BAK due to covid-19 (2.62 thousand people), while unemployment due to covid-19 (13.74 thousand people) and working residents who experience reduced working hours because of covid-19 (217.74 thousand people).
