Abstract

In May 2021, Jambi City and Muara Bungo City experienced inflation of 0.39 percent and 0.21 percent, respectively. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Jambi City was 106.85 and the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Muara Bungo City was recorded at 106.29.
Inflation in Jambi City occurred in 5 (five) expenditure groups. Meanwhile, inflation in Muara Bungo City occurred in 6 (six) categories of expenditure on goods and services due to an increase in the index.
The inflation rate for the calendar year1 and “year on year”2 in Jambi City this month was 0.58 percent and 3.14 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year and year on year of Muara Bungo City this month was 0.33 percent and 1.91 percent, respectively.
Of the 24 cities in Sumatra that calculate the CPI, 20 cities experienced inflation, while 4 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation in Sumatra occurred in Meulaboh City at 0.79 percent and the lowest in Tembilahan City at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Sibolga City at 0.30 percent and the lowest was in Palembang City at 0.02 percent.
Of the 90 cities that calculate the CPI in Indonesia, as many as 78 cities experienced inflation, and 12 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manokwari City at 1.82 percent and the highest deflation occurred in Timika City at 0.83 percent.
